How we built it The new ClydeNET resulted from an initiative by the Scottish Funding Council aimed at improving SuperJANET connectivity for all the Scottish Higher Education and Further Education Institutions. The remit ClydeNET received from the SFC was to re-procure the ClydeNET communications infrastructure and provide connectivity, at bandwidths of at least 8Mbs, for each of the FE institutions located in the ClydeNET catchments area. The project was overseen by the ClydeNET management committee and required a detailed design phase, consultation phase, SFC bid phase and two OJEC procurement processes. The procurement processes addressed the new ClydeNET communications infrastructure and the active routing equipment necessary to provide the Intra ClydeNET routing service and connectivity with SuperJANET. The links o the left hand side of this page give further information on what was accomplished. |
